The Queen Creek Citizen Leadership Institute is an award-winning program designed to spark an interest in local issues, present information about important questions facing the Town, provide an avenue for residents to help plan the community’s future, and develop a pool of informed residents who would be willing to serve as local leaders on boards, commissions and among their neighbors.
In addition to guest speakers, sessions feature group discussions, activities and other topic-related exercises. Participants who complete the seminar series, including attending at least eight of the 11 sessions, one Town Council meeting and one Planning and Zoning Commission meeting, are recognized by the Town Council at a graduation ceremony and are typically considered for future committee appointments.
The 2010-11 Institute will begin in September. Anyone who lives or works in the Queen Creek area is welcome to attend, however most Town committees require residency in the Town limits in order to qualify for appointment. Anyone interested in attending the 2010-11 Institute may contact Sandy McGeorge at 480-358-3192 or sandy.mcgeorge@queencreek.org.
