East Park is approximately 102 acres and is designated as an active-use sports complex facility with eight youth baseball/adult softball fields, eight multi-use fields, batting cage area, basketball courts and volleyball and tennis courts. Earth berms located between the ballfields in the northern portion of the site and the multi-use fields in the southern portion offer visitors the opportunity to see sporting events more thoroughly while creating a buffer between the fields.
The linear configuration of the 3-acre lake allows the optimum number of play fields to be incorporated into the design. The longer shoreline also adds recreational opportunities and creates an aesthetically pleasing view from the collector road to the east. The lake feature will also be used as a reservoir for the irrigation system. The lake is surrounded by open turf and plaza areas where there are picnic and group ramadas, a shaded play area, and concession and restroom facilities. The tennis, volleyball and basketball courts are located near the recreation center. The recreation center is located in proximity to Queen Creek Road where it is prominently visible. This has proven to benefit the effectiveness and public use of these types of facilities.
