San Marqui is a 15-acre park site located within an established residential area and is situated immediately adjacent to the Sonoqui Wash. This passive-use park is designed to reflect the natural setting while allowing patrons to enjoy a tranquil experience casually observing a desert riparian habitat.
The bank along the east side of the Sonoqui Wash is to be graded to provide a terracing effect, which will widen the wash channel and allow low-velocity flows to spread within the park site. This will emulate a natural wash bank condition. Earth berms will establish a natural setting and provide interest along trails, which connect to the Sonoqui Wash and meander around the site. Structures overlooking the wash provide opportunities for nature enthusiasts to sit in the shade while enjoying the flora and fauna. Neighborhood park needs are met with the inclusion of a covered play structure, turf area, picnic facilities, restroom building and small parking area.
