Question of the Week

Mayor Sanders mentioned an increase in the effectiveness rating of the Town’s building codes and enforcement practices. Will the this lower my insurance rate?

The Insurance Services Office is a rating and advisory organization that serves the property/casualty insurance industry. ISO has evaluated over 7,000 agencies within the United States. They collect information on municipal building-code adoption and enforcement services, analyze the data, and assign a classification of 1 to 10 to a municipality. Class 1 is the best rating, representing exemplary commitment to building-code enforcement.

While the building code effectiveness rating will not directly affect an individual’s specific insurance rates, this rating is used by many insurance agencies as an area-wide indicator for pricing. Since Queen Creek jumped from Class 4 to Class 3, we are now eligible to receive the highest credit from the Insurance Services Office. Queen Creek is presently within the top 18 percent of jurisdictions surveyed nationally for Building Code Effectiveness.
