Fire Station 411 & Public Safety Building Groundbreaking

Mayor Barney, Vice Mayor Oliphant, and Council members Barnes, Benning, Brown, Turley and Wheatley attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Fire Station 411 and Public Safety Building. Construction of the new buildings will begin this summer after the completion of earthwork and utilities. Fire Station 411 is expected to be complete in early 2017 and the public safety building is scheduled to be complete in the summer of 2017.


Rittenhouse Road Ribbon Cutting

Mayor Barney, Vice Mayor Oliphant, and Council members Benning, Brown, Turley and Wheatley attended the ribbon cutting ceremony for the reopening of Rittenhouse Road. Improvements to Rittenhouse Road from Queen Creek Marketplace to Sossaman include an additional lane in each direction, a center turn lane, street lights, sidewalks, bike lanes, landscaping and realignment of the Hawes Road intersection.


Queen Creek Block Party

Mayor Barney, Vice Mayor Oliphant, and Council members Benning, Brown, Turley and Wheatley attended the second annual Queen Creek Block Party. The event included circus-themed activities, live entertainment, and a chalk art area.


National League of Cities Conference

Council member Barnes attended the National League of Cities conference in Washington, D.C. Serving in various leadership roles, Barnes is on the NLC Board of Directors, the NLC Small Cities Council Steering Committee, 2016 NLC Finance Committee and NLC Community and Economic Development Committee.


 

Queen Creek Roots N' Boots

Mayor Barney, Vice Mayor Oliphant, and Council members Barnes, Benning, Brown, Turley and Wheatley attended Roots N’ Boots Rodeo, a Queen Creek signature event. The fun-filled weekend included a PRAC Pro-Rodeo, carnival games and live entertainment.


Aviation Day

Aviation Day

Mayor Barney and Council member Brown attended the Lynn Kusy View Park dedication and Aviation Day at the Phoenix Mesa Gateway Airport. Kusy served as the Executive Director to the airport for twenty years. Aviation Day drew families from across the East Valley to enjoy a variety of aircraft, entertainment and activities.


Spring Into QC

Mayor Barney, and Council members Barnes, Benning, Brown, and Wheatley attended the Spring Into QC event. Featuring the Easter Bunny, egg hunts, a color splash, entertainment and fun activities, Spring Into QC is a fun-filled family event.


Reading Under the Stars

Mayor Barney and Council member Benning participated in the Desert Mountain Reading Under the Stars Program by reading to local youth.
