East Valley Breakfast with the Governor
Mayor Gail Barney, Vice Mayor Dawn Oliphant, and Council members Jeff Brown and Julia Wheatley attended the East Valley Breakfast with the Governor in Mesa. Governor Doug Ducey gave his State of the State address at the event and it was an excellent opportunity for the cities and business leaders of the East Valley to highlight the successes and needs of the region.
Gilbert's State of the Town Address
Mayor Gail Barney represented Queen Creek at the Town of Gilbert's State of the Town address at Harkins Theatre. Mayor John Lewis, pictured, tweeted that Mayor Barney is always the first mayor to arrive at events.
Joint Planning Advisory Council
Council member Robin Benning, Chair of the Central Arizona Governments (CAG), attended the Joint Planning Advisory Council meeting in Tucson on Jan. 8. He represented both the Town and CAG at the planning meeting. The Joint Planning Advisory Council is a planning partnership for the Arizona Sun Corridor and includes Central Arizona Governments (CAG), Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG), Pima Association of Governments (PAG), and the Sun Corridor. The meeting focused on transportation and its impact on the economy as a state and region. It encouraged collaboration between the various cities, towns, counties, and regional planning organizations in an effort to strengthen transportation in the region and for the state as a whole. Attendees also heard presentations on Utah's Unified Transportation Plan.
