Water Utility Upgrades Continue in Queen Creek
The Town of Queen Creek is in the process of upgrading older water meters and communication devices to new units through the FlexNet system. The new water meters, iPearl, have a longer life expectancy and require fewer repairs. The upgraded communication devices, MXU 520m, have newer technology that results in more timely and accessible data.
The Town contracted Utiliuse to complete the remaining upgrades. Utiliuse will begin the remaining upgrades at the end of January and will take approximately one year to complete.
Replacing water meters will result in water outages at the replacement home for approximately five to 10 minutes, on average. Utiliuse employees will knock immediately before water is shutoff; employees will never need to enter the home.Advanced notification regarding replacements will be made on Nextdoor, through the HOA, with signage in the neighborhood and door hangers. Not all water meters and communication devices will need to be replaced. Due to the normal course of repair and replacement many water customers already have the upgraded devices.
Work will begin in the following areas:
- Sossaman Estates
- Emperor Estates
- Roman Estates
- Will Rogers
Residents are reminded to keep the area around the water meter box clear; if landscaping is prohibiting access to the water meter box, the landscaping will be displaced.
Once the upgrades are complete, a customer portal will be launched, allowing residents to access the real-time data.
