 Vision Statement

Parks, Trails & Open Space Master Plan cover page

During the first meetings with the Parks, Trails and Open Space Steering Committee (Steering Committee), the public and the Youth Commission, participants were asked to identify the elements that define Queen Creek. The following vision statement was the result:

Queen Creek’s interconnected network of parks, trails, open spaces and recreation opportunities provide safe and diverse activities and programs that sustain its unique, small town, equestrian agricultural character centered around the natural beauty of the Queen Creek and Sonoqui washes and San Tan Mountains.

The Parks, Trails and Open Space Master Plan (Master Plan) is an important implementation tool to meet the recreation needs of current and future residents. Maintaining and preserving the small town character that Queen Creek is recognized for is challenging in face of fast growth.

Current and new residents expect recreation and alternative transportation amenities; preservation of open space, particularly Queen Creek and Sonoqui washes; access to community facilities; a choice of trails that connect the community’s recreation facilities; and access to a variety of recreation programs.
