CURRENT STAGE: PHASE 1 - COMPLETE / PHASE 2 - CONSTRUCTION
The project includes construction of the north half of a future six-lane roadway, bike lanes, sidewalks, signing, and striping. Adjacent development activities are expected to construct the southern half street.
Phase 1 Improvements (Ellsworth to Crismon): This phase of the project was managed by Maricopa County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) and construction is complete.
Phase 2 Improvements (Crismon to Meridian): The Town of Queen Creek is managing the design and construction of the improvements to this phase of the project. Re-alignment of the Rittenhouse Road/Gary Road intersection and widening of the UPRR grade crossing will occur with the project.
CURRENT TRAFFIC IMPACT
Phase 1 is closed to traffic as there is no outlet or connecting streets.
Phase 2 is impacting traffic at Gary Road and Rittenhouse Road where a temporary detour bypass routes traffic around connecting roadway construction.
The construction is about 90% complete west of Signal Butte Road with curb, irrigation ditches, drainage basins, drainage structures, and the first pavement course installed. From Signal Butte Road to Meridian Road, work is underway to place the initial base course, complete subgrade work, curb and gutter, and utilities. Utility work involving boring under the UPRR is underway. Overall, the Phase 2 project is about 50% complete.
Construction is expected to be complete early Summer 2019.
